Alcon has picked up Crash Site, a sci-fi package that hails from two genre veterans.

The spec script was written by Chuck Pfarrer, whose credits include Sam Raimi’s Darkman, John Woo’s American studio directorial debut, the Jean-Claude Van Damme-starring Hard Target, and Barb Wire, the Pamela Anderson sci-fi action flick.

Attached to make his directorial debut with Crash Site is Charlie Gibson, a two-time Oscar-winning visual effects guru who won for his work on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and Babe. The four-time Academy Award nominee’s long list of credits range from Green Mile to Terminator: Salvation and he’s now putting the finishing touches on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.

Gibson has also directed second unit on movies such as The Lone Ranger and three of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

Plot details for the project are being kept deep in a government bunker.

John Baldecchi, who is producing the remake of Point Break for Alcon, is reteaming with Alcon’s Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove as producers on Crash Site.

Gibson is repped by WME and George Heller of Apostle Entertainment.
