'Alpha' Trailer Is a Dog Lover's Dream 20,000 Years in the Making

Alpha takes "man's best friend" to the next level.

The film takes place 20,000 years ago in Europe, during the last ice age, and centers on a young man who is injured and left for dead by his tribe while on a hunt. He finds and befriends a wolf, who has been abandoned by his pack, and the two team up to fight for survival.

There are plenty of prehistoric animals for them to face off against and judging by the trailer, the path home is not easy.

Albert Hughes directs Alpha which stars X-Men: Apocalypse's Kodi Smit-McPhee and Johannes Haukur Johannesson.

Columbia Pictures and Studio 8 are releasing the film March 2, 2018.
