'Amazing Spider-Man': New Trailer Features Andrew Garfield's Radioactive Spidey Bite, Glimpse of Lizard (Video)
Sony Pictures releases a third preview featuring more action than ever, as well as plot details about Peter Parker’s parental issues.
Audiences still uncertain about what kind of web-slinger they’ll see in The Amazing Spider-Man got their most detailed glimpse yet when Sony Pictures released a third trailer for the film on Thursday. Following two trailers containing provocative hints about Peter Parker’s transformation into the superhero, the new clip offers a closer look at specific plot points, plus a better feel for the tone of the film, directed by Marc Webb.

In the two-and-a-half-minute trailer, voiceover by Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) reveals that the biggest struggle in his life – bigger even than dating the daughter of the police chief on his tail – is unraveling the mystery of his parents' disappearance. New footage breezes past his bitten-by-a-radioactive-spider origin story to showcase Spidey's sense of humor -- on display in a scene where he jokingly cowers after a thief pulls a knife on him.
As Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) points out that her father, Captain Stacy (Denis Leary), has 500 men looking for Spider-Man, Parker squares off against Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), using the skyscrapers of New York City as his jungle gym.
The Amazing Spider-Man opens nationwide in theaters on July 3, 2012.
