'Avengers': New Featurette Traces the Superheroes' Journeys to the Big Screen (Video)
"What we're doing here is completely unprecedented," director Joss Whedon says in the new clip.
Over the weekend, 10 new photos from The Avengers hit the web, giving fans another look at the ensemble superhero film.
Now, a new featurette has also hit the web, and includes interviews with director Joss Whedon and some of the producers. It traces the film journey of each of the characters, beginning with Iron Man.
“What we’re doing here is completely unprecedented,” Whedon says. “Marvel is taking the characters that they’re putting in their movies and bringing them all together in a team franchise movie experience, which really has never been done before.”

The featurette, sponsored by Norton, also shows Whedon in New York shooting some of the scenes in Marvel’s upcoming tentpole.
“It all started in New York. The Avengers, the history of the Marvel universe, it all started in New York,” producer Kevin Feige says.
The film, due out in theaters May 4, features Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Bruce Banner/Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) as members of The Avengers, who must ban together despite their differences to save the world.
“These people don’t belong together. These people wouldn’t get along,” Whedon says.

Already, plenty of posters, photos, and trailers have been released for the film. The latest trailer was released on February 29, showing some squabbles between some of the superheroes as they ban together to save the world from all sorts of evil. The trailer went on to take in a record number of iTunes downloads (more than 12.5 million).
