The Avengers Uncover Marvel's 'Original Sin' in May
Marvel's superheroes team up to investigate the murder of the Watcher and uncover more secrets than initially expected in the publisher's next big event book.
Death stalks the Marvel Universe this summer, as Nick Fury leads a team of superheroes as they try to solve the murder of one of the publisher's oldest cosmic characters in Marvel's latest event series, Original Sin.
Fury's team -- which includes the cinematic combination of Captain America, Iron Man and Thor, among others -- isn't the only one investigating the seeming murder of Uatu the Watcher, a character who's been part of the Marvel Universe since 1966's Fantastic Four #13, however. Another group, which features Ant-Man, Doctor Strange and Black Panther, will be looking into the murder from another angle.
According to editor Tom Brevoort: "The stakes involved in Original Sin are much more personally involved" than in other Marvel events, and he should know -- Brevoort has been the lead editor for multiple event comics at the publisher since 2005's House of M, with Civil War, Secret Invasion, Siege, Fear Itself, Avengers vs. X-Men and last year's one-two punch of Age of Ultron and Infinity all falling under his watchful eye.
The main Original Sin series will run eight issues across four months, with Jason Aaron and Mike Deodato Jr. providing the story and art for the series. "It's not just about guessing which one of these five people pulled the trigger," Aaron teased in an interview with USA Today. "There's a bigger overall mystery than that."
After a prologue issue in April, Original Sin officially launches in May.
