'Batman v Superman': New Batmobile Unveiled at Las Vegas Licensing Expo

The next generation ride was built "in near complete seclusion" by the Dark Knight.

Visitors to this year's Licensing Expo in Las Vegas have a super surprise awaiting them at the Warner Bros. Consumer Products display — or, rather, a Bat-surprise, with the new Batmobile from next year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on display alongside the movie's costumes for Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman also present.

Accompanying the Batmobile is a new official description of the vehicle from Warner Bros., which describes it as being "single-handedly designed and fabricated in near complete seclusion by The Batman" — a break from previous versions of the vehicle, which have been created with the assistance of outside engineers, including, in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, the collective minds of Wayne Enterprises.

The new Batmobile is an "infamous pursuit and capture vehicle [which] has earned its reputation as the apex predator on the mean streets of Gotham City," capable of speeds up to 205 mph — a number that sounds impressive until you remember that Batman's opponent in the new movie is famously faster than a speeding bullet. The Batmobile, the description continues, mixes stolen Wayne Industries technology with "the latest in covert military grade armaments, stealth and active protective systems."

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, directed by Zack Snyder and introducing Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman alongside the returning Henry Cavill as Superman, is released March 25, 2016.
