Benderspink, Monsterfoot Developing 'The Avengers' of Horror (Exclusive)
"Burt Wonderstone" producers Chris Bender, J.S. Spink and Jake Weiner are teaming up with Ahmet Zappa for "Monster X."
Benderspink has optioned the script Monster X from Monsterfoot Productions, with the project based on an original idea by Monsterfoot principal Ahmet Zappa.
The idea is a sort of Avengers-style take on the classic monsters such as Dracula, Frankenstein’s creature, Mr. Hyde and others. (There are 10 in total; the “X” in the title is the Roman numeral.) The who’s who of monsters are assembled to defend humanity against an even greater threat to them all.
Zappa co-wrote the initial script. The plan is to further develop the screenplay before taking it out to buyers.

Chris Bender, J.S. Spink and Jake Weiner would produce with Zappa.
Zappa was a producer on last year’s Disney movie The Odd Life of Timothy Green, which was based on his story. The guy clearly has monsters on his mind since he's developing Monster Witness Relocation Program and The Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless, both set up at Disney.
Benderspink is one of the companies behind The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, which premieres tonight at SXSW; Bender and Wiener are among the film’s producers, and Spink is an exec producer. The New Line comedy, which stars Steve Carell, Jim Carrey and Steve Buscemi, bows March 15 in theaters.
Benderspink also is behind New Line’s Jennifer Aniston-Ed Helms comedy We’re the Millers, which opens Aug. 9.
