'Black Sails' Actress to Star in Thriller 'Under the Bed' (Exclusive)
Hannah New, one of the stars of Michael Bay’s pirate TV show Black Sails, is set to star in Under the Bed, a thriller from Radar Pictures, Sobe Brooke Studios and Schizo Pictures.
Also, Appian Way, the production banner run by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran, is coming on board to produce the indie, which was written and is being directed by Daniel Myrick of Blair Witch Project fame.
Bed centers on a young woman (New) trying to get over a recent romantic breakup, while unbeknownst to her, an obsessed stalker befriends her on social media while taking up residence in her home.
The story is based on true events. Bed is to begin principal photography in early August.
The feature is the first in a slate of a producing/financing partnership between Radar and Justin Shaner’s Sobe Brooke Studios.
Shawn Papazian is producing the project along with Radar’s Ted Field and Mike Weber, who developed the project, which started as a story by Myrick and producer Richard Halpern.
Shaner will executive produce with Tom Van Dell, Aldo LaPietra and Eustace Montgomery Hicks.
New appeared as the queen and mother to Aurora in this summer’s Maleficent and plays Eleanor Guthrie, the female lead, in Starz’s Black Sails. The Bay-produced show just completed filming its second season.
New, who also appeared in the award-winning Spanish limited series El tiempo entre costuras, is repped by LBI Entertainment, U.K.'s Creative Artists Management and attorney Lev Ginsburg.
