'Blade Runner 2049' Posters Are Sleek But Can't Top Original

Two posters for Blade Runner 2049 were released on Thursday. And while they are both very slick, they just don't top the poster for the 1982 film.

The new posters separately feature Harrison Ford, who is returning as Rick Deckard, and co-star Ryan Gosling.

They are fairly basic, not featuring anything the December teaser didn't show. The Gosling poster is done in cool colors and shows his futuristic police cruiser. The Ford poster is done in warm colors and shows the decaying head of a massive statue, also seen in the teaser.

Neither gives any movie credits or even a release date, so there is likely a third edition coming, but so far, these posters just cannot top the one for the 1982 film. That drawn poster was epic, as it was futuristic but dripping with noir. It didn't give anything away plot wise but was intriguing with the tag "Man has met his match. Now it's his problem."

That poster was done by legendary artist John Alvin, who also did posters for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Gremlins, The Goonies, The Color Purple and The Little Mermaid, among others.

Blade Runner 2049 is due out Oct. 6.
