Bob Iger and Chewbacca Share 'Star Wars' Selfie
The Disney chairman poses with the co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon on the Instagram feed of the space-opera property.
Disney chairman Bob Iger celebrates Star Wars Day with a particular gift for fans: what many believe may be the first selfie released from the set of Star Wars: Episode VII -- with a glimpse at the return of a much-loved character from the original trilogy.
Appearing on the official Star Wars Instagram feed Sunday, the image featured Iger standing in front of Chewbacca, with the caption "Chairman's new co-pilot. #StarWarsDay."
No other information about the shot was released, but many believe that it was taken on the London set of the new movie, presumably while J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan were recording their "video selfie" message for the Internet. If so, it marks the first image of the set of Episode VII, although one lacking in identifiable details.
Also unclear is just who is standing behind Iger. Obviously, it's Chewbacca, Han Solo's partner in crime and winner of the Galactic Howling Contest three years running. But whether or not it's the Chewbacca -- by which I mean actor Peter Mayhew or even the actual costume that'll be used in the new movie -- is something that remains unconfirmed. Some things, it appears, are fated to be known only in galaxies far, far away…
