'Captain America: The First Avenger' Gets an Honest Trailer (Video)
Can't wait for this weekend's "Winter Soldier"? Relive the highpoints of Captain America's origins with this snarky look back at the character's first movie.
Before Chris Evans returns to cinema screens as Marvel’s Sentinel of Liberty in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, perhaps it’s time to refresh your memory about the character’s first cinematic outing. What better way to do it than with an Honest Trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger?
Calling it “another movie that only exists to set up The Avengers,” the trailer sums up the message of The First Avenger -- “it’s what on the inside that counts, except when it comes to fighting. Or being respected. Or getting laid” -- as it introduces Steve Rogers, “a grown man’s head CGI’d onto a skinny boy’s body,” who goes on to become a hero with the power of ultimate Frisbee.
You know that a movie’s good when even the snarky self-styled honesty is ultimately affectionate. Weirdly enough, the honest trailer might just convince you to rematch The First Avenger before heading out to The Winter Soldier. Check it out below and judge for yourself.
(Although, yes: Raiders of the Lost Ark really did do it better, didn’t it?)
