Chris Evans stars as Steve Rogers in the film, due in theaters this July.

The first trailer for Captain America is here and it's about time.

We get a skinny and weak Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, and the origin is sketched out for the first half of the trailer. Is that TMI? Nah, because we get served up a great line: "Because a weak man knows the value of strength, knows the value of power."

Not quite the level of, "With great power comes great responsibility" (the famous Spider-Man phrase), but the great delivery does put it close to that ballpark.

The trailer builds nicely to a quick peek at the Red Skull and to some action.

Don't yield, back the shield! (To borrow a phrase.)

The film opens July 22.
