Comic-Con: 'Batkid Begins' Director Reveals Who Young Hero Thinks Batman Really Is (Q&A)
Director Dana Nachman tells THR the young superhero doesn't realize he's a big deal: "He has a real sense of self for that age."
Batkid captured the hearts of the geek community and beyond when he saved San Francisco last year, and now a documentary about him is headed to Comic-Con.
Batkid Begins director Dana Nachman discussed her crowdfunded documentary at a 10:30 a.m panel on Sunday in Room 8. The film has raised $45,000 of its $100,000 goal toward completing production. (Click here to see the campaign.)

Here, Nacham talks with The Hollywood Reporter about working with young Miles and reveals who he thinks Batman really is.
What has working with Miles and his family been like?
We went up to their farm in Northern California for three days. They are great and totally in it and support of it.
Does Miles know that he's a big deal now?
No, I don't think so. I think he's a really special kid. He has a real sense of self for that age. I'm interested in what he becomes because he's a special guy. He's not a huge talker. I spent a lot of time watching him play.
What has Miles said about his special day in San Francisco?
I heard Miles tell his dad that EJ (Johnston), who was the Batman for the day, really is Batman. He said the actors from the movies are actors, but that EJ really is Batman.
What's something you've learned bout Miles from your work on this?
Miles doesn't wear the costume unless he's working. He has other "fun" Batman costumes around the house, but the one from San Francisco is special.
What are your goals for finishing the film?
When Make-A-Wish (which organized Miles' San Francisco day) said yes to this, they said they'd like it for Nov. 15 of this year. I will have a cut for them on that date.
How does this film compare to your others?
All of my other films have been dark – important but dark. This is sort of the antidote to that.
