Comic-Con Only Selling Single Day Passes for 2014 Show
If you plan on attending all four days (and preview night) of the massive pop culture event this year, it'll involve buying five separate passes.
Fans who planned on attending every day of this summer's San Diego Comic-Con may find doing so slightly more difficult than usual, with Comic-Con International announcing that it will no longer be selling passes to the entire event in 2014.
The organization made the announcement on the pre-registration area of the event's website. "Only single day badges will be sold," the site reads. "The Preview Night badge option may only be purchased if you buy a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday badge. Preview Night is not a stand alone badge option. As in 2013, anyone who purchases a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday badge will have the option of consolidating them into one 4-Day badge onsite."
What makes this a particularly confounding decision is that the program schedule for the show has not yet been released, and -- going on experience of past years -- will not be released until around a month before the show at the earliest, meaning that anyone deciding to purchase just a pass for just one day literally has no idea what kind of programming will be on offer for that particular day. It'll be interesting to see how many people try to purchase four single day passes plus the Preview Night pass, compared with any other combination.
For those who do want to attend the entirety of Comic-Con in 2014, it'll cost them $200, up from $175 last year. According to the site, only those who purchased a 4-day attendee or 1-day attendee badge for Comic-Con 2013 and retained their badge are eligible to preregister for the event this year, with open registration happening later -- presuming, of course, that there will be any passes left at that point.
