'Dark Knight' Original Art Sells for over $400K!

This weekend's Heritage Auction saw page 10 from Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns issue number three sell for a whopping - are you ready for this? - $448,125. (The price includes the 19.5 percent buyer's premium.)

Luckily Hertiage Auction gives you the option to pay over four months. Whew!

Dark Knight is a seminal piece of comics literature, but is that the reason it went for so high? The page is a splash page of Frank Miller and Klaus Janson art but is that the reason it went for so high? Guys that read Dark Knight in the 80s while in high school or university are now grown up and CFOs of tech companies and have money to burn?

Two other pages from Dark Knight - #4, page 2 and #3 page 2 - sold for a more reasonable (well, depending on your point of view) $41.8K and $13.1K.
