Since it's Halloween, the nearly two-minute teaser shows the minions appropriately dressed in costumes and getting spooked by ... a cat in a garbage can?

Then things get weird, as something (or someone?) from above picks the minions up with a bright light, replacing them with said cat. There is no sign of Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) yet, but the disappearance of the minions could be a sign of what's to come in the animated followup.

Despicable Me 2, featuring a voice cast that includes Al Pacino, Kristen Wiig and Russell Brand, hits theaters summer 2013. Can't get enough of the minions? Universal is planning to release a spin-off movie December 2014 centered on the characters.
