Joseph Kosinski’s Horizons, aka Oblivion, is being taken out of Disney.
The studio, for whom Kosinski directed Tron Legacy, is not moving forward with the sci-fi project and is allowing the director to shop it to other studios and financiers. Sources say Warners, Fox, Universal and Paramount are among the companies now considering the project. Horizons, with a script by William Monahan and Karl Gadjusek, was created by Kosinski who partnered with Radical Pictures before setting it up at Disney. The sci-fi actionner centers on a soldier assigned to patrol a desolate planet who meets a mysterious traveler. Disney had been in the design stages on Horizons for awhile now and even had strong interest from actors; Tom Cruise is such a fan of the project that he even attended the premiere of Tron Legacy to show his support for Kosinski. The studio was uncomfortable in making a PG-13 actionner, with Kosinski keen on making a project with edge. Kosinski’s relationship with the studio is so strong, however, that the studio decided to allow him to shop it elsewhere. Kosinski is making presentations to studios this week. Kosinski's Tron Legacy, which hits Blu-ray and DVD next week, grossed over $397 million worldiwide.THR's Daily Must Feeds
