Disney Picks Up Sci-Fi Adventure Project 'The Runner'

Disney has picked up a sci-fi adventure project from Dave Andron, the developer of NBC’s recent Knight Rider reboot, titled The Runner, with Marc Forster attached to direct.
Brian Grazer and his Imagine Entertainment banner are producing along with Zak Kadison of Blacklight Transmedia. Forster will also produce with his Apparatus shingle partner Brad Simpson.
The story centers on a lone man who is sent back in time to change the course of history but who also has a personal motive of saving the love of his life.
Blacklight, which develops projects simultaneously for several platforms ranging from movies to TV shows to comics to mobile devices, originated the project. It then partnered with Imagine, with whom it has a first-look deal.
Blacklight's Eric Lieb will exec produce.
Andron, now a writer-supervising producer on FX’s Justified, originally wrote Runner as a spec pilot but reconfigured it with the help of Blacklight and Apparatus. He is repped by CAA and Madhouse Entertainment.
Forster, repped by CAA, last directed the James Bond pic Quantum of Solace and is prepping his next pic, Paramount’s zombie movie World War Z.
