'Expendables 2' Preview: A Bigger Cast, and Even Bigger Explosions (Video)
A new trailer offers glimpses of expanded roles for Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis, as Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris and Liam Hemsworth join the action-packed sequel.
After decades of hypothetical team-ups, showdowns and crossovers, Sylvester Stallone’s 2010 film The Expendables offered action fans an unprecedented assembly of some of the most iconic actors in the genre’s history: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Mickey Rourke and Stallone himself. In the film’s eagerly anticipated follow-up, Stallone not only expands Schwarzenegger and Willis’ roles, but recruits Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris and Liam Hemsworth to join in on the ass-kicking action.

In a trailer released today via IGN.com, The Expendables 2 appears to offer audiences even more of what they enjoyed in the first film – epic set pieces, explosive action, and plenty of pithy one-liners. Schwarzenegger is the clip’s MVP, first announcing “I’m back,” and then leaping into a Smart Car for a fast getaway while declaring, “One of my shoes is bigger than this!”
The trailer also introduces Van Damme as the film’s villain, who gets his hands on five tons of plutonium and hatches a plan to “change the balance of the world” – if he can get through the wall of muscle that is Stallone.
Watch the clip above for even more exciting action. The Expendables 2 opens nationwide August 17, 2012.
