20th Century Fox has hired Chad Damiani and J.P. Lavin to rewrite the live-action adaptation of the children's classic Flat Stanley. Josh Greenbaum, who directed the golf documentary The Short Game, is on board to helm.
Walden Media optioned Jeff Brown's series of books in 2011, which is now being developed with Fox. Flat Stanley, which was first published in 1964, revolves around the boy protagonist Stanley Lambchop, who is able to go many unlikely places after being accidentally flattened.
Adam F. Goldberg and Chris Bishop wrote a previous draft.
Damiani and Lavin are best known for their script Kamikaze Love, which was on the Black List and is set up at Screen Gems. Recently, they wrote How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack based on the book by Chuck Sambuchino, which they wrote for Robert Zemeckis' ImageMovers and Sony Animation. They also wrote Max Steel, based on the Mattel toy property for Paramount and producer Joe Roth, and previously Capeshooters for Warner Bros., with Bryan Singer producing.
On the TV front, the pair wrote The Golden Age: The Lost Treasure of Zheng He for CJ Entertainment and Rat Entertainment. They are also doing a reboot of The Cisco Kid for CBS and producers Salma Hayek and Lauren Shuler Donner.
Kira Goldberg and Ryan Jones are overseeing Flat Stanley for Fox.
Damiani and Lavin are repped by Paradigm and Stephen Crawford at Industry Entertainment.
Greenbaum is handled by UTA, Management 360 and attorney Linda Lichter.
