'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2' Takes Over Twitter
As the final film opens, nearly half the trending topics are related to the Warner Bros. franchise.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is taking over Twitter.
As the final film in the Warner Bros. franchise opens, nearly half of the top 10 trending topics on Twitter Thursday are related to the film.
The first is "Mischief managed," an incantation that Ron's big brothers Fred and George make up in the book. (Some sites criticize Professor Lupin for uttering the phrase in the movies after giving Harry Potter the "maurader's map," which shows the comings and goings at their school, Hogwarts.)
The No. 2 topic is Mrs. Weasley, Ron's mom, for a pivotal scene in the final film in which she says, "Don't mess with my daughter! You b--ch," referring to her girl, Ginny, who (SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOKS) goes on to marry Harry Potter.
"Albus Severus Potter" is also trending -- the name of Harry Potter and Ginny's son in the final chapter of the book.
Classmate Neville Longbottom also makes the top Twitter trend list.
Before noon on the West Coast Thursday, theaters already had reported $25 million in ticket sales for midnight runs Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 broke opening day figures for the Australian box office, distributor Roadshow Films said on Friday. Opening at 12.01 am local time on Wednesday, July 13, the film took AUS $7.02 million ($7.44 million) in 24 hours, beating prior record holder Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King by nearly $1.8 million.
