Hugh Jackman Appears as Singing Wolverine on BBC Radio (Video)

"Am I a superhero with some claws, or just an actor searching for applause?" sings the "X-Men" actor in a segment.

There are those who wish that Hugh Jackman would bring his singing talents to the role of the X-Men’s perennial tortured warrior, Wolverine. Those people have good reason to be very, very grateful to British radio on Wednesday.

During an appearance on BBC Radio 1’s The Matt Edmondson Show, Jackman performed a special version of the song “Who Am I” from Les Miserables, rewritten to reference his role in the Fox/Marvel movies with lines like “Am I a superhero with some claws, or just an actor searching for applause?” and “I’m at the gym doing weights each day, ‘Hugh has got to look buff,’ they say.”

Admittedly, he doesn’t quite reach that last note — his failure to do so being spectacular in itself — but the video shows Jackman being wonderfully game. Now, if only someone could get Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart to launch into song, we’ve got a potential boy band in the making …
