'Hunger Games': First Clip of Jennifer Lawrence in Action Debuts During MTV VMAs (Video)
The upcoming Lionsgate film opens in theaters March 23, 2012.
During Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, the first official clip from the highly anticipated Lionsgate film, The Hunger Games, debuted.
After releasing two Hunger Games one-second teasers of the teaser, viewers got their first real chance to see Jennifer Lawrence in action as Katniss. The one-second teasers were enough to tie everyone over (for the time being), but with the film expected to open in theaters March 23, 2012, time was ticking.

Near the end of the VMAs telecast, Lawrence introduced the brief clip, which featured the Oscar-nominated actress running through the forest -- presumably after the Hunger Games have officially started -- and showing off her archery skills, shooting an arrow into the Hunger Games logo. A large tree -- catching fire -- also fell in front of our heroine at one point during the clip.
No footage of Liam Hemsworth as best friend Gale or Josh Hutcherson as partner Peeta were shown during the clip, which featured Hemsworth saying in voiceover, "You're stronger than they are."
VIDEO: 'Hunger Games': MTV Teases the Teaser
For all the hype surrounding the film, the world premiere clip was disappointing yet at the same time, intriguing. The scene was spoiler-free, but was it enough for the avid fans of the Hunger Games, who lock in on anything relating to the books/upcoming film?
The teasers released earlier this week showed Lawrence staring at a light and running through the forest, looking frightened; either she was running from something or to someone.
Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks and Paula Malcolmson co-star in the big-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins' bestselling books.
