The first preview of The Hunger Games will premiere on the MTV VMAs this Sunday.

Jennifer Lawrence, who stars as Katniss in the anticipated big-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins' books, will introduce the clip, which airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

The Lionsgate film hits theaters in March 2012.

The MTV VMAs, which air live from L.A.'s Nokia Theater, will feature performances by Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne (who will release his album digitally shortly after) and Adele, among others.

Jesse Ignjatovic/Den of Thieves, Amy Doyle, Garrett English and Dave Sirulnick are executive producers on the broadcast. Jen Jones is co-executive producer. Joanna Bomberg is executive in charge of music and talent. Hamish Hamilton is director. Wendy Plaut is celebrity talent executive.
