'Hunger Games': Nelson Ascencio and Kimiko Gelman Join Cast

The two unknowns have joined the Lionsgate feature adaptation, starring Jennifer Lawrence.

Two more characters have been cast in Lionsgate’s upcoming big-screen adaptation of Suzanne CollinsThe Hunger Games.

Nelson Ascencio and Kimiko Gelman have been cast as members of Katniss’ prep team, Lionsgate announced Friday.

Ascencio, a former writer on Mad TV and who appeared in Paul, will play Flavius and Gelman, who had an arc on CSI: Miami, has landed the part of Venia opposite Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss.

Filming is currently under way in North Carolina on the anticipated film, which also stars Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci and Lenny Kravitz.

Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross, is slated for a March 23, 2012 release.
