Inferno Taking Ride on 'Autobahn' (Exclusive)
The action project, written by Greg Russo, has Mark Steven Johnson attached to direct.
Production company Inferno Entertainment has picked up action project Autobahn, written by Greg Russo with Mark Steven Johnson attached to direct. The project was formerly called I-95.
Autobahn is the story of a washed-up ex-Formula One driver who wakes up trapped inside a BMW on the side of the Autobahn, Germany’s famed high-speed roadway, which has no general speed limit. He answers a phone ringing in the glove box, only to be told that he has 90 minutes to deliver the bomb-rigged car to a target or his wife and daughter will be killed.
The setting of the project was switched from the United States’ Eastern seaboard to Germany in order to court the international marketplace. Inferno would look to cast a star ahead of the American Film Market in November and pre-sell the film.
Inferno, the production company behind the forthcoming Brad Pitt vehicle, Cogan's Trade, is already out to actors on the project. The company is financing Autobahn and will handle international sales; CAA will handle domestic sales.
Russo has had a busy year. This spring he sold an action pitch to Alloy Entertainment called Black Ice and he was also hired to rewrite the script for Heatseekers, a Platinum Dunes and Chris Morgan-produced action project that is set up at Paramount.
Johnson’s credits include the Ben Affleck superhero flick Daredevil (2003) and the Nicolas Cage-starring action film Ghost Rider (2007).
Russo is represented by ICM, management company Manage-ment and law firm Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein & Kohner.
Johnson is represented by CAA and law firm Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof and Fishman.
