'Interstellar' Has the Most Gorgeous Posters Ever Seen

Are the posters telling the story of the movie?

Yet another new poster — the fourth this week — has been released for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, yet again with a spectacular new image revealing a new landscape from the movie… and a new tagline, as well. But what if there's more to the multiple images and taglines than meets the eye?

The first of the posters to be revealed (above) repeated the tagline from the teaser poster released in May: “Mankind was born on Earth. It was never meant to die here,” accompanying Matthew McConaughey’s character looking up at the sky with his daughter Murphy while standing in front of his "place in the dirt" as seen in the most recent trailer for the movie. (Murphy, too, plays an important part in that trailer.)

From there, the second poster’s tagline continued the thought: “The end of Earth will not be the end of us,” with the third adding “Go Further.” Again, it's worth watching the trailer when it comes to that second poster: the mountain with another mountain floating above it may make an appearance at the 2:05 mark.

Now, the fourth poster completes the sequence with the tagline “Mankind’s next step will be our greatest,” as McConaughey and two other astronauts stand knee-deep in water. It’s not only the taglines from the poster that form a coherent sequence; the images in the four posters can be taken to feature McConaughey pre-space mission with his family, on the space mission, his spaceship the Endurance returning to Earth, and then he and the rest of the crew post-splashdown on Earth — or perhaps that’s just reading a little too much into things.

Even if they’re not telling a story, the posters are certainly beautiful. Interstellar will be released in theaters Nov. 7.
