In the comic books, criminal mastermind Norman Osborn (a.k.a. the Green Goblin) was the first to don the Iron Patriot armor when he pretended to have turned into a good guy as the head of H.A.M.M.E.R. (a S.H.I.E.L.D. replacement).

But as Rhodes, better known for wearing the War Machine armor, is Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) closest friend, it’s unlikely his version of the Iron Patriot will be wreaking havoc the way Osborn’s did.

Directed by Shane Black, Marvel Studios' Iron Man 3 also stars Ben Kingsley, Gwyneth Paltrow and Guy Pearce. The film hits theaters May 3.
