Jason Blum, Chris Morgan Teaming Up for Sci-Fi Thriller (Exclusive)
Actor-turned-writer Chris Denham, who was one of the houseguests in "Argo," has been tapped to pen the script.
Microbudget horror man Jason Blum and Fast and Furious franchise writer Chris Morgan are teaming up for a low-budget sci-fi movie project, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
The two will produce the untitled project and have hired actor-turned-scribe Christopher Denham, who played one of the Canadian Embassy houseguests in the 2012 best picture Oscar winner Argo, to write the script.
Logline details are being kept secret, but broadly, the story centers on a group of students who invent a new technology with ramifications that go far beyond their control.
Both Blum, Morgan and their respective production shingles, Blumhouse and Chris Morgan Productions, have first-look deals with Universal, and the project could end up there down the line.

Denham, repped by UTA and Benderspink, has appeared in such movies as Shutter Island and The Bay and did a stint on Fox's The Following.
But he actively has been cultivating his writing voice, gaining low-budget cred along the way. He wrote and directed the 2008 indie horror movie Home Movie, which starred Adrian Pasdar. And he wrote Area 51, an upcoming found-footage movie from Oren Peli and Paramount.
Blum has a packed year with four movies in the can or in post-production. Among them: Universal’s The Purge, which stars Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey and opens June 7, and Insidious: Chapter 2, which is set to open Sept. 13.
Morgan, whose Fast & Furious 6 opens May 24, is developing The Legend of Conan as well as an adaptation of an upcoming YA book series by author Julie Kagawa.
