Jason Momoa to Star in Lin Oeding's Action Thriller 'Braven'
Jason Momoa is set to star in Lin Oeding's action thriller Braven.
Highland Film Group is handling international sales on the film at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival, where it should generate heat thanks to Momoa's rising star as the new Aquaman in the upcoming Warner Bros. Justice League movies.
The screenplay, based on an original story by Mike Nilon and written by Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, centers on a humble logger (Momoa) residing along the U.S.-Canada border, who is confronted by a group of deadly drug runners in his secluded cabin in the mountains and must do everything in his power to protect his family.
Momoa and Brian Mendoza’s Pride of Gypsies will produce alongside Nilon and Molly Hassell.
“Braven is the perfect addition to our growing portfolio,” HFG’s Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier said in a statement. "Lin Oeding’s background in stunts tied with Jason Momoa’s physical mastery assures us that the film will deliver heart-pounding action at every turn."
Momoa will play Aquaman in Justice League parts one and two as well as the James Wan-directed Aquaman. Director Oeding comes from an impressive background in action design for studio films including Ant-Man, The Equalizer and Straight Outta Compton.
Momoa is repped by APA and LINK Entertainment.
At Toronto, HFG will also be shopping Osgood Perkins’ February, starring Emma Roberts, Kiernan Shipka and Lucy Boynton, which will make its world premiere in the festival's Vanguard section.
