Jim Starlin Returns to Thanos in New Marvel Graphic Novel
The newly announced original graphic novel brings the character's creator back to the Avengers villain in a story that offers "a major change" in his status within the Marvel Universe.
So far, Marvel Entertainment's announced original graphic novel program has centered around successful movie properties -- this year's Avengers: Endless Wartime, and 2014's Spider-Man: Family Ties and X-Men: No More Humans. The company expands that focus (slightly), with the newly-announced Thanos: The Infinity Revelation.
The new title is the work of Jim Starlin, who created the Thanos character in 1973's Iron Man #55 and guided the character throughout such fan-favorites as The Infinity Gauntlet, Infinity War and Marvel: The End, and sees him return not only to the villain who made his cinematic debut in the mid-credit sequence of Marvel's The Avengers, but also the character's heroic counterpart, Adam Warlock.
"Thanos and Adam Warlock team up to deal with a universe-imperiling event," Starlin explained about the plot of Infinity Revelation. "Big changes are coming to everything and the Titan appears to be at the heart of this astral metamorphosis. The story concludes with a major change in Thanos' status within the Marvel Universe, turning him into a greater threat than ever before."
The graphic novel reunites Starlin with Thanos for the first time in a decade, following the character's return to comic book prominence in this year's Thanos Rising and Infinity. Thanos: The Infinity Revelation is scheduled for release in April 2014.
