Mike Mitchell is attached to direct Jitters, a family fantasy adventure project set up at Paramount. Benderspink’s Chris Bender and JC Spink are producing.

Written by Dreamworks exec-turned-screenwriter Marc Haimes, the logline for Jitters is under wraps but is known to involve genetically altered bugs and is similar in tone to the Amblin movies of the 1980s.

Mitchell, hailing from the animation world, is coming off the CG/live-action hybrid Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, which grossed over $320 million worldwide. Before that, he directed Shrek Forever After, the fourth Shrek movie, which made over $752 million worldwide.

The helmer, who also counts Disney superhero movie Sky High among his credits, is repped by CAA.
