Joe Carnahan Boards 'Five Against a Bullet' for Sony
Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing the action thriller.
Joe Carnahan has come aboard to rewrite and direct Five Against a Bullet, a Columbia action movie being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
The move kick-starts the project, which has been sitting idle for several years after initially attracting actors such as Bruce Willis.
Alex Litvak wrote the original script, which tells of a Mexican politician who, after his father is killed by a drug cartel, hires the five best bodyguards from around the world to protect him through a contentious election.
It is not immediately clear if Willis is still involved.
Michael De Luca and Lauren Abrahams are overseeing for the studio.
Carnahan has proven himself adept at this type of muscular material, having written and directed such movies as Narc, Smokin’ Aces and The Grey. He last directed Stretch, a Blumhouse thriller that has not yet been released.
