“It’s been a journey to make and it’s been so long since we ended filming, so this is a big day for us,” he told Robin Roberts.
Based on the Barsoon series by Edgar Rice Burroughs, John Carter follows a former Confederate captain (Kitsch) who is mysteriously transported to Mars and must resolve a conflict between warring nations. The new clip emphasizes action, adventure and special effects, with less of an explanation offered behind the storyline and his character’s past.

Kitsch can be seen wielding weapons, eyeing Lynn Collins, and screaming, “We did not cause this, but we will end it!” Of the high-flying stunts, Kitsch jokes, “A lot of wirework, as you can tell. There’s a lack of gravity on Mars for John Carter. I still have the scars to prove it on the groins.”
For fans, this is the second peek at Andrew Stanton’s highly anticipated project. Disney also released a teaser trailer back in July, showcasing a bit more of Kitsch's Earthly beginnings. Watch Kitsch's tease for the trailer below.
The full-length official trailer will debut on Wednesday at 9 p.m.
