Mark Wahlberg Says New 'Transformers' Is More Than Meets the Eye

"I think people are definitely going to get their money's worth," the star says of the fourth "Transformers" installment.

Excited by the Transformers: Age of Extinction trailer? Star of the relaunched franchise Mark Wahlberg wants fans to know that it only gets better from there.

“I think a lot of time, moviegoers are kind of tricked by trailers. They’ll see a cool moment and go, ‘Oh, I can’t wait to see that,’ but once they see [the trailer] they’ve seen the best bits of the movie,” Wahlberg told IGN.com in a recent interview. But he said that that’s not the case with Michael Bay’s fourth outing with Hasbro’s robots in disguise.

“Recruiting the dinobots — it’s pretty elaborate in how it happens,” he offered as a hint. “[It’s] not like Optimus has a whistle and they come running, he’s really got to convince them to come onboard and fight this fight, and it’s pretty cool how it’s done. I think people are definitely going to get their money’s worth, it’s well worth the wait. And I think, for the die-hard fans, they’re going to have a whole new thing to look forward to in the future.”

When pressed for details of what that “whole new thing” could be, Wahlberg said that audiences should “just expect to be blown away,” adding “When we saw parts of the movie, and how it’s come together, you know, you have a whole new cast, you have a whole new threat, new enemies and all the things that you liked, with all the explosions and the action, but it’s just a little bit more realistic, a little bit more believable, I think.”

It’s strange to think that adding gigantic robot dinosaurs could make a franchise more realistic, but the proof will be in the cinematic pudding. Transformers: Age of Extinction will be released June 27.
