Marvel Releases Digital 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Comic Prelude
Marvel's push to promote the summer space opera continues with a comic prologue to the movie written by the men who assembled the team in the first place.
Can’t wait until August for a look at Guardians of the Galaxy? You don’t have to, thanks to the newly announced Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Prequel Infinite Comic, which reunites fan-favorite creators to offer a digital peek into the worlds of Marvel Studios’ new space opera.
The digital release centers around Gamora, Zoe Saldana’s character from the movie, who heads to “the crime-ridden world known as Conjunction” on a mission from the Collector -- the character Marvel fans saw at the end of Thor: The Dark World, as played with relish by Benicio del Toro.
“This all-new Infinite Comic was built just for [fans of Marvel’s cosmic characters],” editor Bill Rosemann pointed out, as it reteams writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, who were responsible for the current incarnation of the team as a result of their 2007 Annihilation: Conquest comic book storyline.
Rosemann called the one-off comic, illustrated by Daniel Gover, Andrea DiVito and Laura Villari, “a must-read story that will steer you directly into Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.” This is the second time the company has chosen the “enhanced” digital format to tease a future movie release; January saw the publication of a similar prelude to Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Prequel Infinite Comic is available now via Marvel’s comic store and ComiXology platforms.
