Marvel Senior VP Craig Kyle to Co-Write Third 'Thor' Film With Christopher Yost
Kyle executive produced the first two Chris Hemsworth-starring films.
Marvel Studios senior vp of production and development Craig Kyle is making a major transition in his career, and his first project will be a high-profile one.
Kyle will co-write the screenplay for the third installment of Marvel's Thor with frequent collaborator Christopher Yost. With this project, Kyle will make a complete career transition to a full-time screenwriter.
Yost most recently co-wrote the screenplay for Thor: The Dark Work with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely from a story by Don Payne and Robert Rodat.
Marvel president Kevin Feige, who will produce the third installment, said in a statement: “I am proud of Craig and have enjoyed working with him over these past years. His creative instincts have helped shape Thor and Thor: The Dark World at every level of the filmmaking process. The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Craig as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thor’s adventure.”
Kyle, who began his career at Marvel Studios in 2001 as a creative executive for the company’s animation division, most recently executive produced The Dark World, which starred Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman and is the third-highest grossing Marvel Studios film ever. He also exec produced the first Thor film, which opened in theaters on May 6, 2011. Together, the films have grossed over $1.08 billion worldwide.
