Marvel Teases "All-New, All-Different" Comic Book Universe
Marvel Entertainment's Secret Wars comic book event has only just started, but the company has already started promoting what comes after, promising something "All New, All Different" this fall.
A teaser image released by Marvel today (see below) features the Marvel logo and text reading "8 Months Later ... All-New All-Different," with a date of "Fall 2015" visible in a different typeface at the base of the image.
As revealed earlier this week, the "8 Months Later" tagline refers to the fact that the "new Marvel Universe" that comes out of the end of Marvel's summer event will pick up storylines and characters eight months after the events of Secret Wars inside Marvel's fictional timeline.
The decision, explained Marvel executive editor Tom Brevoort, will allow creators the chance "to drop into exciting new situations and status quod on the fly," mirroring DC Entertainment's 2006 One Year Later publishing event which jumped 12 months ahead in its own fictional timeline.
The "All-New, All-Different" part of the tagline, meanwhile, is in part a reference to the All-New, All-Different Avengers issue Marvel released for Free Comic Book Day at the beginning of the month, which was revealed to take place post-Secret Wars.
Although Marvel hasn't revealed exactly what its fictional universe will look like following the conclusion of the event promised to act as "an end cap on decades of stories," the publisher has promised that this month's new launch A-Force, featuring an all-female Avengers team, will also continue in the new universe.
Secret Wars Nos. 1 and 2 are currently available in stores, with subsequent issues of the 8-part series to be released across the summer.
