Marvel's 'Civil War II' Comic Book Gets Its Own Trailer
With just weeks to go before Captain America: Civil War hits theaters, Marvel Entertainment has released a trailer for Civil War II, the comic book event series that will once again pit hero against hero this summer.
The video was accompanied by a statement from the publisher that reads:
The drums of war beat for the Marvel Universe this June, as the Earth-shattering Civil War II No. 1 comes to comic shops and digital devices with a jam-packed double-size issue! Blockbuster creators Brian Michael Bendis, David Marquez and Justin Ponsor bring you a tale of hero against hero — and a Marvel Universe divided. A new power has emerged, one that can predict the future — for good or for ill. Standing on opposite sides, will the heroes use this new power to prevent danger before it happens? Or will they fight to allow tomorrow to unfold unaltered. Battle lines will be drawn. Lives will be changed. Heroes will fall. Do you stand with Captain Marvel? Or will you side with Iron Man? Choose your side!
Unlike the original comic book Civil War, the new series pits Tony Stark's armored alter ego not against Captain America, but against Captain Marvel, the company's premiere female superhero and a character who is set to receive her own movie in 2019.
The story begins on May 4, with the release of Civil War II No. 0 by Bendis and artist Olivier Coipel, followed on May 7 — this year's Free Comic Book Day — by a special primer issue by Bendis and artist Jim Cheung, ahead of the June 1 "official" launch of the Bendis/Marquez series.
Civil War II will run through the summer and include the death of at least one major hero, according to pre-release publicity from Marvel. Watch the trailer for the series below.
