Millar, Wadlow Tease 'X-Force' Details
So, we already know that Fox is planning to expand its X-Men movie franchise beyond just X-Men and Wolverine movies with the addition of X-Force in the near future, and that Jeff Wadlow will be responsible for writing, and maybe directing, the flick following his Kick-Ass 2 duties. But what we don't know is just who will be on the team -- although, thanks to Mark Millar, we know how many of them to expect.
Talking to /film's Peter Sciretta, Millar -- who was hired as creative consultant for Fox's Marvel franchises in September last year -- and Wadlow discussed the mystery of which members of X-Force will show up in the movie.
"What's interesting with X-Men," Wadlow said, "I mean they have an iconic line-up so you know who is going to be in that movie, but X-Force, it's like, 'Who is it going to be?' I love that people are guessing." Millar added, "People are going to be dissecting every name as it gets released, so it will be cool when you have your five."
So -- a five person team? Perhaps that suggests Rick Remender's critically-acclaimed Uncanny X-Force line-up of Archangel, Deadpool, Fantomex, Psylocke and Wolverine… except that Rob Liefeld, who created X-Force in the early 1990s, has tweeted that such suggestions are "def. not Gospel."
Liefeld -- famously outspoken on Twitter when it comes to the comic book industry -- has stayed quiet on what he knows about the movie so far, previously Tweeting that "even a mouth as loud as mine must respect the big picture and leave details to the filmmakers," although he has teased followers with news of his Comic-Con meeting with Wadlow.
Fox's next X-Men project, The Wolverine, is released in theaters tomorrow.
