Ray Donovan topliner Liev Schreiber and Murder in the First star Taye Diggs are in the saddle for the voicecast of My Little Pony: The Movie.

The duo join a stable of big-name actors that includes Emily Blunt, Kristen Chenoweth, Emmy Award winner Uzo Aduba (Orange Is the New Black) and Michael Pena (Ant-Man), who will bring to life brand-new characters for the movie.

The "Mane 6" actors such as Tara Strong, Ashleigh Ball, Andrea Libman, Shannon Chan-Kent, among others, who voice the core Pony herd in the popular My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic TV series are segueing from the show to the big screen.

Friendship Is Magic writer Meghan McCarthy penned the screenplay. The story is launched when a new dark force threatens Ponyville and the ponies must embark on a journey beyond Equestria, using the magic of friendship and save their home.

Character details are being kept lassoed tight to the halter.

Jayson Thiessen is directing the feature slated for theatrical release on Oct. 6, 2017. Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis of Hasbro's Allspark Pictures are producing.

This is a rare trot into animation for Schreiber, who has previously done narration work but whose only animation credits are an episode of Robot Chicken and a short titled Felt.

Diggs too has rarely ventured into animation but voiced the Black Panther in The Super Hero Squad Show.
