New 'Hunger Games' Images Released (Photos)
The photos for Lionsgate's film reveal a closer look at the characters played by Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz and Woody Harrelson.
Lionsgate celebrated the New Year by releasing a few more photos from The Hunger Games. While the new photos seem to all be from scenes that were shown in the trailer, fans starving for more Hunger Games content will still be glad to see them.
PHOTOS: 11 'Hunger Games' First Look Images
One of the photos shows the story's heroine, Katniss (Jennifer Larwence), after she has volunteered herself at the tribute to compete in the deadly games. She's pictured with Elizabeth Banks’ Effie Trinket in what must be the most magenta outfit ever worn.
The second image of Katniss shows her being escorted by guards, most likely at the Capital, preparing for the games.
Another photo gives viewers a good look at some of the other characters in the film including Katniss' mentor for the games Haymitch (Woody Harrelson), her fashion consultant Cinna (Lenny Kravitz), and the other District 12 tribute Peeta (Josh Hutcherson).
STORY: New 'Hunger Games' Poster Revealed
Other images show Katniss in the tube on her way up to the actual games. Both the trailer and these photos have avoided showing any images from the actual games.
Lionsgate's film adaptation of the very popular novels by Suzanne Collins is set for a March 23 release. Set in the futuristic world of Panem, the story follows Katniss as she becomes a contestant in the annual Hunger Games, a fight-to-the-death competition held by the government in which only one young person will survive.
