New 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.' Trailer Reveals What Put the Cold War on Hold

What could be so dangerous that it would bring Russian and American spies together at the height of the Cold War? As a new trailer for this summer's revival of the classic TV series reveals, nothing less than potential atomic apocalypse — which makes it a good thing that The Man from U.N.C.L.E. has Superman (Henry Cavill) on its side.

The second glimpse of director Guy Ritchie's retro reprise of the spy thriller reveals more about the threat at hand: an atomic bomb in the hands of a criminal organization, with the only lead as to its origins lying with Victoria Vinciguerra (Elizabeth Debicki), who seems to be entirely at ease with the femme fatale role and can be seen both romancing and torturing Cavill's Napoleon Solo.

Russia's Illya Kuryakin, played by California-born Armie Hammer, has a love interest of his own: fellow spy Gaby Teller, played by Ex Machina's Alicia Vikander.

Written by Ritchie and Lionel Wigram, the retro-fabulous (Those fashions! That music!) The Man from U.N.C.L.E. also features Hugh Grant, Jared Harris and Luca Calvani. It's due in theaters Aug. 14.
