Pam Grier and Brigitte Nielson Take 'Skinny Dip' With Sasha Grey (Cannes)
"They took her bikini. They took her virginity. She took her revenge."
Pam Grier, Michael Madsen and Brigitte Nielsen have joined the comic exploitation flick Skinny Dip for production outfit The Zoo.
Sasha Grey and Danny Trejo are already aboard to star in the story of a girl who takes an innocent dare, ends up terribly victimized and then seeks shotgun-wielding revenge while wearing a stolen police uniform (tagline: “They took her bikini. They took her virginity. She took her revenge.”).
Frankie Latina is directing a screenplay by Norman Lasca.
“I grew up on and have always loved the films of the 70’s and 80’s featuring such on-screen idols as Pam Grier, Laura Gemser and Grace Jones,” said Latina. “They contain, in my opinion, some the most powerful female performances in cinema history. Skinny Dip will draw from a new, equally powerful and provocative actress in Sasha Grey. Combining the wild, exploitative sensibility of grindhouse films with strong female characters drawn from the present – these are the kinds of films I make and want to see.”
Jack Turner and Nicholas Shumaker of the Zoo have partnered with
Colombia-based Be-TV to produce the project, which will begin filming in Santa Marta, Colombia next month. Tayrona Entertainment Group is distributing the film in Latin America. Tayrona's James Ordonez and Ken Gord are executive producers along with Mammoth Entertainment.
Elle Driver is repping international sales at the Marche du Film in Cannes, while CAA and Submarine are co-repping domestic rights.
Latina and Lasca are repped by the NYC-based Zoo, which is also developing the documentary Me at the Zoo, Eva Husson’s Bang Gang and Latina’s Bulletproof Mustache. Shumaker produced the Sundance drama Another Earth, which Fox Searchlight picked up for a summer release.
