'Poltergeist' Remake: First Trailer Teases Scary Monsters and Super Creeps

The Sam Raimi-produced horror features Sam Rockwell and Jared Harris.

More than 30 years after little Carol Anne Freeling (Heather O’Rourke) first told her parents, “They’re here,” the invisible, ghostly threats have returned in the first trailer for the Sam Raimi-produced remake of classic horror movie Poltergeist.

The trailer, which debuted on iTunes Thursday, features Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt and Jared Harris's characters as they struggle to deal with the abduction of Madison, played by 8-year-old Kennedi Clements, by forces beyond mortal ken. Needless to say, there are more than a few things going bump in the night in the trailer.

The new Poltergeist was written by David Lindsay-Abaire and directed by Gil Kenan, best known for his work on City of Ember and Monster House. It’s scheduled to hit theaters July 25.
