Worlds will collide and classic pulp heroes will find themselves working side by side in The Greatest Adventure, a new comic book series from Dynamite Entertainment and Fables creator Bill Willingham, that brings Tarzan of the Apes, John Carter of Mars and Dejah Thoris together. Heat Vision has the official solicitation, and cover artwork, for the first issue exclusively.

The series, which launches this April, doesn't just deal with the big names of the ERB library, however — as the solicitation for the first issue makes obvious, Willingham is going deep when it comes to his choice of characters for the story. (Jason Gridley, for those unfamiliar with him — which is to say, most people — is a relatively minor character who accidentally discovers the radio frequency that allows transmissions between Earth and the worlds of Barsoom and Pellucidar…or Mars and the world at the center of the Earth, respectively.)

Dynamite Entertainment's solicitation for the first issue reads, "In ancient days, Jason gathered the greatest heroes of his age and set out on the ultimate sea voyage. Now, in Tarzan’s era, Jason Gridley does the same. The greatest heroes of the Edgar Rice Burroughs universe come together as the crew of the good ship Venture, with none other than Tarzan as their captain. It’s a race this time, against a battleship of dark hearted villains, and the fate of many worlds hangs in the balance."

Willingham is joined on the series by artist Cezar Razek, who'll illustrate the interiors, while Cary Nord, Rags Morales and Roberto Castro provide cover artwork for the first issue. Nord's artwork is at the top of this post, with Morales' and Castro's covers (complete with trade dress) below.

The Greatest Adventure No. 1 will be available in comic book stores and digitally April 19.
