Read the First Five Pages of DC/Vertigo's 'Bodies' (Exclusive)
The new murder mystery series features four detectives across more than a century try to solve a murder that apparently keeps happening.
For most procedurals, one murder is enough to keep the protagonist’s busy. In Si Spencer’s new comic Bodies—illustrated by Meghan Hetrick, Tula Lotay, Dean Ormston and Phil Winslade, and launching this week—things get just a little more complicated, and THR has an exclusive look at the opening pages of the series.
Announced earlier this year, Bodies is a new mini-series from DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint that mixes the murder mystery genre with something far stranger when the same victim appears to be murdered in four different time periods across more than a century, with one artist responsible for illustrating events in 1890, 1940, 2014 and 2050 as they unfold.
The preview pages below come from the 2014 segment of the series’ first issue, with Hetrick—whose work has previously appeared in DC’s The Joker’s Daughter and Fairest titles—joining Spencer to introduce Shahara Hassan, the detective responsible for the case in our contemporary era. Also below, David Finch’s variant cover to the issue.
Bodies No. 1, the first installment of the eight-issue series, will be available in comic book stores and digitally Wednesday.
