Resolution Independent Turns to Crowd Funding for 'Wynter Dark' (Exclusive)
The Aussie entertainment outfit plans to turn the NYC-set post-apocalyptic new ice age project into a movie and produce an interactive tablet graphic novel.
LONDON – Australian entertainment company Resolution Independent is turning to crowd funding to bankroll the roll out across tablets and e-readers of its graphic novel Wynter Dark, a post-apocalyptic new ice age adventure set in New York.
Resolution founder and Wynter Dark creator Pete Ford is also prepping plans to turn the graphic novel into a movie at his company to be executive produced by Wayne Duband.
Ford, a former Dark Horse Comics writer, is half way through his graphic novel and is launching the crowd sourcing initiative to develop it for tablets/e-readers with new technology allowing fans to explore the narrative and the creation of the art itself.
The campaign is launching on Pozible, Australia's answer to Kickstarter, the alternative finance model.
In exchange for an investment in Wynter Dark, investors will be offered a host of fan materials including original art from the novel itself with the rewards linked directly to the size of the cash sum invested.
Ford said as a comic book fan himself, he wants to ensure people would get "real value for their money."
Ford's Melbourne-based company has been working on the graphic novel for two years and is also developing projects for film and television in addition to its publishing ventures.
