At a press call in Munich, a demure Gwyneth Paltrow wore an chic white dress while her co-star opted for something a little more traditional.
Often a bit mischievous on red carpets, Robert Downey Jr. showed up to an Iron Man 3 press event in Germany clad in custom-made traditional lederhosen and bright green socks. The eccentric ensemble effectively showcased the actor’s sense of humor as well as his calves.
At the event at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich, Downey's Iron Man 3 co-star Gwyneth Paltrow stood by his side wearing a stylish white Kaufmanfranco dress and smiling at her co-star's antics.
When it comes to red-carpet garb, the 48-year-old actor has always had a flair for the dramatic.
At the 39th Annual People’s Choice Awards he paired a slate-gray suit with bedazzled Christian Louboutin Louis Strass sneakers. In Seoul, South Korea, Downey attended an Iron Man 3 premiere unaware that the zipper on his Vivienne Westwood tuxedo was down.
Downey and Paltrow have been on a whirlwind world tour to promote the third film in the superhero franchise. Their travels have taken them to Russia, Korea and China, where Downey received a giant, golden snake throne as a gift for his 48th birthday from Marvel studios and Chinese co-producer DMG.
The London premiere was scheduled for April 17, but has been pushed back one day to allow for the funeral for the former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher.
Iron Man 3 will pit Tony Stark against a new nemesis, the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), who threatens the industrialist’s personal life.
The film will hit theaters in the U.S. on May 3.
