Robert Downey Jr. Walks Out of 'Avengers' Interview (Video)

Well, now we know what Tony Stark's kryptonite may be — or, at least, what Robert Downey Jr.'s is. The actor walked out of an Avengers: Age of Ultron promotional interview when asked about what is euphemistically referred to as his "dark history."

In a video tweeted out by British journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy, who describes it as "a steely moment from Ironman" [sic], Downey is seen to become increasingly combative throughout the interview even before Guru-Murthy gets personal. His surprise (and potential discomfort) is visible when Guru-Murthy brings up a quote from a 2008 New York Times interview, and his confusion continues as the journalist continues to ask about Downey Jr.'s personal history. "I'm sorry, I, I really don't — what are we doing?" he asks, before the interview gets cut short.

As he walks out, Downey Jr. can be heard to tell Guru-Murthy, "It's just getting a little Diane Sawyer in here."

On April 24, Downey Jr. proved there are no hard feelings between himself and Sawyer, as he posted a photo to Instagram of himself sharing an embrace with the ABC News personality. "A corrective experience with legitimate journalism," he captioned the shot.

Downey Jr., like his Avengers co-stars, is currently in the middle of a massive worldwide promotional tour for the second movie based around the Marvel Entertainment superhero team. As can be heard in the video, the interview in question — for Britain's Channel 4 News — was one of a number of such conversations the actor was taking part in that day, scheduled to last around eight minutes … as long as things stayed on topic, apparently.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is released in the U.K. Apr. 23, ahead of the U.S. release date of May 1. His Instagram post can be seen below.
